Food’NBev Connect, Inc. is a non-stock, not-for-profit corporation that is focused on building an education focused community that helps food and beverage brands across the Northeast region grow and succeed. A number of groups converge to form the cluster.
Emerging food and beverage brand companies are members and the focus of our activity. They are supported by several groups:
Our Board of Directors that helps lead our overall effort and guides our development and set our goals and mission.
Our Executive Director leads the day-to-day activities of Food’NBev Connect, and works with brands, sponsors and advisors to present a strong curriculum and event calendar that is geared to helping brands grow, and to help brands make the connections they need to succeed.
Our volunteer advisors provide pro-bono advice to our brands. Each member is an expert in one or more functional areas, with backgrounds that includes roles as either a senior executive with a larger brand, as a staff or leadership partner from regional and national service providers, or as individual executives or service providers involved in various functional aspects of our industry sectors. Several are also successful serial entrepreneurs. Our Advisors are our instructors and help us present on-trend information and training on key functional issues surrounding the packaged food and beverage industry. This curriculum forms the core of what we do for our brands.
We also rely on members of the Hospitality community who host our events and on members of the investment community who help us get our brands ready for capital raising and funding rounds and provide other important connections.
Importantly, we also rely on our sponsors who help us cover operating expenses, co-lead events and provide other support. Their support and belief in building a strong food and beverage community is invaluable.

Tim Brown, President & CEO, Americas, Upfield, oversees Upfield’s business in the United States, Canada, and Latin America and joins the company as it seeks to expand its leadership in delicious, all-natural plant-based nutrition products that are good for you and better for the planet. Tim reports to David Haines, Group Chief Executive Officer, Upfield BV, and is a member of the Upfield Executive Committee.
Prior to joining Upfield Tim served as President and Chief Operating Officer with Chobani. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the food business. Prior to Chobani, Brown had a long career at Nestle as CEO of the North American water business and before that as CEO of all Canada operations. Brown and his team, pioneered the bottle water business, creating a portfolio of brands that became the recognized market leaders. Brown started his career at Proctor & Gamble. He has also been on the board of directors for the Grocery Manufacturers Association, Grocery Foundation of Canada, Food Marketing Institute and the Food and Consumer Products of Canada.
Tim serves on the boards of the Connecticut Council for Education Reform (CCER), The Business Council of Fairfield County, the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI).

Stephen is chair of Robinson + Cole’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital team. He also leads the firm’s Food, Beverage and Consumer Products industry group. Jim Giangrande, CFP® is Managing Director and a Founding Partner at Altium Wealth Management, LLC. With over 30 years of experience in financial services, he has spent his career helping his clients identify and execute their plans to achieve their life’s purpose. With Altium Wealth Management, he works closely with founders of companies and has spent the last several years specializing with founders in the food and beverage space, frequently attending conferences that support the industry. In 2020, he formed a monthly discussion group for food and beverage founders to provide a forum in which they can learn and grow from each other and from successful founders in the industry. Jim is an avid golfer and runner and a passionate alum of the University of Maryland at College Park where he recently finished his term on the board of Governors of the University of Maryland Alumni Association and now serves as an advisor to the board.

Bill started his career in financial services industry in Buffalo, NY after getting my MBA. He then moved to CT, entered the hedge fund world, joining Bridgewater Associates, where he led a team in the Operations department and then moved to the Research Department. Upon realizing that financial markets weren’t a long term passion, he switched industries and joined Diageo. At Diageo, Bill has led the National Accounts and Military Finance teams, then moved to his current role as the Director of Diageo’s Accelerator program.

Randy Harrison is a Certified Public Accountant and a partner in Marcum LLP’s Tax & Business Services group where he serves as the New England Regional Food & Beverage Industry Group Leader. Prior to his career at Marcum, Mr. Harrison was a partner in Meyers Harrison & Pia LLC. Mr. Harrison has more than 30 years of diverse tax, financial, and business consulting experience. He assists small to medium-sized food and beverage businesses (as well as other industries) with managing all aspects of their operations, including growth, succession, cash flow, information technology, and taxation matters. He also focuses his practice on high net worth individual income taxation.
Randy earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University. He is currently based in New Haven, CT and serves as an officer of The Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven. He lives in Woodbridge, Connecticut with his wife, Bonnie, and his three sons.

Mike has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs, craftspeople, artists, and inventors to help them realize their vision. The Hackerspace has a wood shop, CNC router, two industrial lasers, and a wide variety of 3D printers. Mike is also the co-founder and CIO of ReadyElement, a startup cloud-computing consulting company that enables companies to build web and mobile applications on the Amazon AWS platform.

Micki Tiffen has been working as an independent marketing consultant in her own firm, Out of The Box Consulting, where she has been providing strategic consulting supporting marketing and sales including shopper marketing, custom survey design/development and analysis/reporting for a wide range of clients and categories. She was responsible for assessing the effectiveness of marketing activities and developing pricing and retail strategy.
